Our Residents in the Spotlight

What an exciting week it was at Remuera Gardens, with two full days of photography and filming to promote the brand-new Avenue Apartments. The project included several video commercials and a lifestyle film that will feature on our new website. These showcase the Avenue complex, which offers some of the most spacious layouts in Remuera — from one to three bedrooms, with sizes up to an impressive 163m².

When the idea of the photoshoot was first introduced, the marketing team immediately suggested involving our own residents. We’d done this successfully in the past, and everyone was eager to experience it again. Preparations soon got underway to bring together 40 residents from across the Real Living villages, along with some family members and staff.

The decision was a resounding success. All the participants thoroughly enjoyed themselves, and the creative agency praised the “unprofessional actors” for their flexibility, enthusiasm, and natural talent, which helped the shoot run seamlessly and on schedule.

Filming took place not only in the apartments, but also around the village facilities — including the vibrant Pavilion, the bowling green, and the seven acres of landscaped gardens. These settings not only highlighted the lifestyle on offer at Remuera Gardens but also gave residents the chance to socialise between takes, enjoying delicious food prepared by the village kitchen.

Grandchildren joined in too, delighted to skip school for such a fun opportunity. They enjoyed the games room with cornhole, table tennis, and board games, and their favourite moment came during a poolside shoot in the heated pool, where they played and relaxed with residents.

Real Living is a group of boutique retirement villages with nearly 700 residents. After 40 years, we remain proudly family-owned — which means we’re guided not by corporate targets, but by the wellbeing of our residents. Like any big family, we’re proud of each and every member, and we love celebrating the many talents they bring to our villages.

If you’d like to be part of our 40th anniversary celebrations — including special events such as a Q&A with broadcasting legend Judy Bailey — we’d love to see you there. Visit https://www.theavenueapartment... to explore the latest event details and join us in marking this milestone.
