An evening with Sherlock Holmes

A couple of years ago, Epsom Village decided to shake things up by reinventing the classic Christmas party. In 2022 the Activities Coordinators organised a dinner inspired in the Hollywood Oscars, and the residents enjoyed the evening so much that they decided to repeat the concept for 2023. This time the theme for the night was a "Mystery Christmas", with an evening full of clues to unlock, mysteries to solve and fictional criminals to arrest.

The Lounge in the village was adorned with enigmatic decorations and posters featuring residents playing the roles of fictional criminals. The residents couldn't help but burst into laughter when they saw the prints, specially if they were pictured in them. But the biggest surprise of the night was when Sherlock Holmes and Dr Watson made their entrance into the Lounge to monitor the activities of the pretend criminals.

Les and Penny, two of the village's most skilled employees in acting, took on the roles of Sherlock Holmes and Dr Watson. Other members of the staff were disguised as famous villains, including the village manager, Lillian Fletcher, dressed up as the infamous Cruella de Vil of 101 Dalmatians.

Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson's witty investigations and humorous banter made residents repeatedly burst into laughter.

The themed evenings at Epsom Village always include the participation of the residents, who in this case needed to solve some quizzes to unlock the mysteries of the night. Furthermore, some of the residents also posed as notorious criminals, including Al Capone who was played by the Chairman of the Residents Committee, Neville Corbett.

The Christmas dinner is one of the highlights of Epsom Village's social calendar, with a five star menu and delicious Christmas treats courtesy of Real Living. The residents thoroughly enjoy the friendship, the gourmet dining options and the top-notch entertainment that is provided on the night. On top of all that, the village offers residents a keepsake to commemorate the evening: a themed photo memento with their friends which always proves to be a resounding success.
