“We are lucky to have the Warkworth Hotel in the Village.”

Opened in 2018, Warkworth Oak is a perfect blend of the old and the new. Our contemporary apartments are equipped with all modern amenities and are ideally situated in the heart of picturesque Warkworth. Complementing the village is the charming Warkworth Hotel, a heritage building dating back to 1862. Recently renovated, the hotel now operates as a vibrant restaurant and bar, offering a delightful experience for several generations of Warkworth residents, including those from Warkworth Oaks.

Warkworth Oaks Village Manager, Christine Hill, highlights how the hotel’s rich history and strong connection with the village enhance the living experience at Warkworth Oaks.

“The Warkworth Hotel is a beautiful front to Warkworth Oaks with its long history in the town and now a strong connection with our Village. On a sunny day, with patrons enjoying themselves and a real buzz about the place, the Village feels a vibrant place to live. Many residents patronise the Hotel downstairs and the staff recognise their regulars and those who are from the Village, providing an enjoyable dining experience.”

After a year and a half of careful research, design, and renovation, the Warkworth Hotel reopened on Monday, October 19th, 2020, standing proud as a classic piece of town history. The hotel has preserved the Victorian decor, with original kauri wood floors, comfy sofas, and Tiffany lamp shades, takes you back to the hotel’s glory days. The management prefers to call it 'your local,' underscoring that, while the building is beautiful, it remains welcoming and down-to-earth. Their goal is for the hotel to be enjoyed by both longtime locals and new visitors alike.

Located upstairs in the hotel, the Southgate Room features an elegant fireplace that has become an ideal backdrop for various events at Warkworth Oaks. In 2022, the room hosted a spring Fashion Show in collaboration with the clothing store Sophie Pink. According to Christine Hill, the Southgate Room is a multifunctional space that easily accommodates a wide range of Village activities and social events.

“Upstairs, our Southgate Room provides a fabulous venue for Village resident activities and other events. Each August, an art fare is hosted and in the warmer months, the balcony doors can be opened out to Queen St. The perfect vantage point for any events being held in the town. We are lucky to have the Warkworth Hotel in the Village.”

The Warkworth Hotel is incredibly versatile, making it the ideal venue for everything from art exhibitions to fashion shows and more.

The hotel management cherishes the special bond they have with Warkworth Oaks and enjoys seeing residents visit with their families. Just as the Warkworth Hotel has long been an integral part of the town’s history, Warkworth Oaks has similarly become a cherished cornerstone of the community. Both the hotel and our retirement village contribute to a rich, interconnected tapestry of local life, enhancing the overall experience for everyone involved.
